MONTGOMERY-cheap true religion jeans

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Democrats complained about a lack of transparency and about no chance for debate the first timeTuesday night was tame by comparison, but they again complained strongly that the Republican supermajority had steamrolled them on an important issue that needed more discussion. The accountability act provides tax credits for families with children zoned for failing public schools to help pay tuition at a private school or a better public school. The bill that passed the House tonight Republicans announced a vote to cut off debate about 45 minutes into the discussion of the bill. About 10 minutes later, the bill was passed by a vote of 62-40. It now goes to the Senate. There has never been a time when I ve seen a body that has failed the people like you failed the people tonight, said Rep. A.J. McCampbell, D-Livingston. You re sitting here all smug, thinking you ve done something, calling it accountability. My thing is, if you are accountable, then there are things that you do to show that accountability. Democrats said they wanted to offer some amendments, including one that would have said lawmakers and constitutional officers would not be eligible for the tax credits. But they had not done so when the debate ended, cheap true religion jeans.Rep. Jim Carns, true religion outlet, R-Mountain Brook, the sponsor of the bill that passed tonight, left the chamber early because he was not feeling well. Rep. Chad Fincher, R-Semmes handled the bill tonight in Carns absence. Fincher sponsored a school flexibility bill earlier that was expanded into the accountability act in February.Fincher said tonight no one approached him about amendments and he was not aware of any, true religion jeans. He said the move to end debate was because of the time. It was approaching 10 p.m. on the 26th day of the 30-day legislative session.Rep. Jay Love, R-Montgomery, said much of the discussion was not focused on the amendment before the move to end debate. I think most of the comments that were coming from the floor addressed the bill that was passed two months ago and really didn t have much to do with the bill that we were on currently, Love said. And we had been in a filibuster mode all day, since we came in at 1. We just felt the hour was getting late and we were in the final four days of the session and we needed to get that bill out of the House. But Rep. Joe Hubbard, D-Montgomery, said the Democrats were trying to learn more specifically about the bill before their opportunity to ask questions came to a halt. There were people with serious, serious questions about the implications of requiring schools to accept or not to accept transfers, Hubbard said. Serious questions, questions that we couldn t ask at the time this bill came through. One, because nobody really understood the bill. And two, because nobody understood how it was going to be interpreted by the state department.”Rep. Laura Hall, D-Huntsville, said many students stuck in failing schools won t be helped by the accountability act because they won t be able to move to a better school. Most of the students left in the failing schools are those that can t afford to move, true religion jeans outlet, Hall said. What are they going to do? What are their options? Give me their options. Fincher said he thought private schools would be the option for many students. He said looking at the state overall, many students will be helped, cheap true religion. There are private schools that are willing and ready to take students, Fincher said.McCampbell said the legislation would lead to more racial segregation. You claim we are trying to take care of those children in failing public schools, he said. But all this is doing is saying if my child in Jefferson County is in a failing school, he cannot go across that mountain to Mountain Brook or Vestavia. That s what this bill is saying. And we are sitting here continuing to perpetuate segregation in this state.

Alabama Senate votes to ignore federal gun laws that are in ‘violation’ of Second Amendment-true religion jeans

Alabama Senate votes to ignore federal gun laws that are in ‘violation’ of Second Amendment
(FILE) – The Alabama Senate this morning voted 24-6 for a bill that would declare federal gun control laws to be null and void in Alabama if they were in “violation of the Second Amendment.”
Sen. Paul Sanford, R-Huntsville, said the law would put the federal government on notice that the state would not enforce “unconstitutional” gun control laws.
They are not going to use our law enforcement resources to enforce their law that we believe is unconstitutional, Sanford said during the debate. Sanford said he sponsored the bill after receiving hundreds of emails and calls from constituents concerned about proposed gun control measures in Congress. The bill states that “all federal acts in violation of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution are null and void and won’t be enforced in Alabama. However, the bill also declares that, “All federal acts, laws, orders, rules or regulations regarding firearms are a violation of the Second Amendment, true religion jeans.” Asked about that language in the bill, cheap true religion jeans, Sanford said it was a “finding” but it isn’t his intent to try to nullify all federal gun laws. Sanford said he wanted to give the state the option on future measures.”Rather than immediately go to court, the state would say we are not going to follow that and participate in that,” Sanford said.Sen. Bobby Singleton, D-Greensboro, said the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution states that federal law is superior to state law, cheap true religion. “This bill is null and void on its face,” Singleton said. Sen. Dick Brewbaker, who voted for the bill, noted that nullification has been a losing battle for the states ever since South Carolina tried to undo a tariff during President Andrew Jackson’s administration.
If it s an unconstitutional law than the Supremacy Clause has no standing, Sanford responded. The bill is similar to a measure recently signed into law in Kansas.
“That doesn’t make it right,” Singleton said, true religion outlet.
“That doesn’t mean it’s wrong, true religion jeans outlet,” Sanford responded.
Sanford said there were not any federal gun laws he could immediately think of that he considered in violation of the Second Amendment. However, he said he thought an assault weapons ban might be. The bill now moves to the House of Representatives.

Elite pro Gerald Swindle shows a Guntersville bass he teased off a spawning bed-true religion jeans outlet

Elite pro Gerald Swindle shows a Guntersville bass he teased off a spawning bed. Frank Sargeant
There’s a reason so many top bass pros live in Alabama.
And for most, it’s spelled G-u-n-t-e-r-s-v-i-l-l-e.
“It’s not only maybe the world’s best bass lake, it’s a great place to live,” says 2012 Bassmaster Classic champ Chris Lane, who moved here from Florida a few years back.
“You’ve got every type of water here, from shallow grass to rocky points to deep ledge and hump fishing, to frogging, topwater–you can practice any technique that works anywhere in the country at some time here on Guntersville, so it’s a perfect place for a bass pro to live,” says Lane. “Plus, you’re right in the middle of the other lakes the Tour visits every year, which saves a lot on those extra-long drives.”
And, says Lane, true religion jeans outlet, the fact that the famed lake draws anglers from all over the nation is also the reason he founded his business, Chris Lane Tackle and Guide Service there, with the new shop recently opened at the junction of 431 and Wyeth Drive on the south side of town, almost in casting distance of the Spring Creek boat ramp.
Elite pros Lane, Casey Martin, Kevin Hawk, Randy Howell, Jamie Horton and Gerald Swindle plus FLW pros Jonathan Hery and Pat Snellings all took a few days off from their pro angler duties this week to assist Kay Donaldson, director of the Alabama Bass Trail, in beginning the run-up for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic, to be fished here next February, cheap true religion.
Joined by a number of noted outdoors writers, the crew overnighted at the spectacular Dream Ranch Resort and Hunt Preserve (www.dreamranch.org ) south of Guntersville and headed out to area boat ramps each day to show the quality of bassing here to the visiting media.
Despite a bit of rain and a north wind, cheap true religion jeans, Guntersville didn’t fail to produce.
“The thing about this lake is there are so many types of habitat that you can always find fish biting on something somewhere,” Gerald Swindle told me. He proceeded to find several dozen bass bedded around boat docks in a quiet cove, and over the next hour teased and prodded nearly every one of them to eat the soft plastic crawfish he presented repeatedly.
“The bass here get a lot of pressure from a lot of good anglers, but if you’re persistent and find the right tactic, you can always catch them,” said Swindle. “Of course, sometimes they’re not quite as big as you’d hope, but this lake puts out a lot of monsters, too.”
One tactic a lot of bed fishermen overlook, he said, is using a drop-shot rig for finesse presentations–using a spinning rod and 7-pound-test fluorocarbon, he proceeded to snatch a 4-pounder out from under a gnarly old dock where it looked like 65-pound-test braid would have been overmatched, true religion outlet.
He said the spawn is likely to continue for several more weeks, and anglers who prowl the protected coves and keep a sharp eye out while wearing glare-reducing polarized glasses can readily spot the active nests.
“A bed with fish on it here is usually about 2 to 3 feet across and surrounded by white or yellow sand, with some exposed shell or gravel in the middle,” says Swindle. “Even if you don’t see fish on a spot like that, pull back and watch it and a lot of times they’ll swim back in after a few minutes and you can catch them.”
The Alabama Bass Trail includes not only Guntersville but 10 other great Alabama lakes. For complete details, true religion jeans, visit www.alabamabasstrail.org. For details on the upcoming Classic, visit www.bassmaster.com.

Can salmon make you smarter-true religion jeans

Can salmon make you smarter? Researchers say a diet with foods like salmon can prevent declining memory and thinking skills. (FILE) BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Do you remember what you had for dinner last night? You might have a better shot at that if your meal contained foods associated with the Mediterranean diet. That’s according to a University of Alabama at Birmingham study to be published in Tuesday’s issue of , the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology. The study, looking at the diets and cognitive abilities of more than 17,000 people, is being called the largest yet done on the Mediterranean diet, true religion jeans, UAB says. The Mediterranean diet consists of foods with healthy amounts of omega-3 fatty acids such as found in fish, chicken and salad dressing.Researchers found that in healthy people, those who followed the diet were 19 percent less likely to develop problems with their thinking and memory skills.Asked what a good Mediterranean diet meal would be, Dr. Virginia Wadley, senior author of the paper, offered this: “Baked or grilled salmon with fresh lemon and olive oil over an arugula and tomato salad, brussels sprouts, a baked sweet potato, whole grain bread and fresh fruit.”Wadley said it’s not so much the quantity of these foods you eat rather than “the ratio of ‘good’ foods to ‘bad’ foods such as red meat and saturated fats.”"Fill up on fruits, vegetables, nuts and beans, whole grain cereals and non-fried fish, and limit the burgers and cream sauces,” she said. The study did find, however, that the diet was not associated with a lower risk of memory and thinking problems in people with diabetes.”Our results suggest that the Mediterranean diet might support cognitive abilities by protecting against cerebrovascular disease and stroke,” Wadley said. “For people with diabetes, risk for cognitive impairment may be linked to other factors as well, including episodes of low and fluctuating blood sugar. Also, true religion jeans outlet, in our study people with diabetes were less likely to follow a Mediterranean diet, as it differs from the recommended diet for diabetes control.”The data for this study came from the database of UAB’s ongoing . Public Policy has been added to the USA Baldwin County fall 2013 curriculum and will be taught by Dr-true religion outlet

Public Policy has been added to the USA Baldwin County fall 2013 curriculum and will be taught by Dr. Ed Lamonte. Lamonte is an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at USA. Lamonte feels this subject matter is important because everyone is affected by public policy. He cited examples like health care reform, Social Security, and education policy. He added, as citizens of the United States, we have the opportunity and responsibility to participate in the public policy making process by electing public officials, true religion outlet, making our opinions known to them, and even becoming advocates for our goals through participation in interest groups.
Lamonte says he brings the experiences of working in the public sector into the class room — not “war stories” but insights and lessons that he learned. Lamonte added he believes his public service experiences give him a well rounded perspective. Almost every class will involve class discussion of important contemporary public policy issues, not in the partisan sense of what is the right policy but to apply immediately what we are studying in the course he said.
Interesting aspects of the course, to Lamonte, are realizing the complexity of the public policy process and figuring out how to make a difference in that process. Also, every student will bring rich experiences and distinctive views to the class. It is always interesting to have these experiences and views brought forth in respectful discussion in the safe haven of a classroom, Lamonte said. The major concepts of the class include the process of making public policy; public policy implementation and evaluation; the role of values in the world of public policy; interests groups — their assets and liabilities; and developing citizen effectiveness in influencing public policy.
Lamonte has a Bachelor of Arts degree in United States History from Harvard College and a Doctorate degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago. He served as Director of the Center for Urban Studies at the University of Alabama in Birmingham for 10 years and taught there, true religion jeans, as well. After leaving UAB, he spent eight years serving as chief of staff for Birmingham mayor Richard Arrington. For the next twenty two years, Lamonte taught at Birmingham-Southern with the exception of one term, cheap true religion, when he served as Interim Superintendent of Schools for Birmingham.
Although he has been teaching for about 35 years, this is LaMonte s first time to teach for the University of South Alabama Baldwin County, true religion jeans outlet. I like being a part of smaller institutions that can develop a real sense of community, and the campus is delightfully close to our Fairhope residence Lamonte said.
